Thanks to the Christopher Columbus Fellowship Foundation, the eight finalist teams in the Christopher Columbus Awards will participate in the National Championship Event. But for one team, it's something more. Awarded to the finalist team that best demonstrates its enterprising spirit and resourcefulness, the Columbus Foundation Community Grant will help the team turn its great concept into a feasible solution to its community problem. For that team, the National Championship Event is just the first step in a year-long adventure.
In addition to seeing how science and technology affect people's lives, it's also a chance to meet students and coaches from all across the country who share the same commitment to community. It's an opportunity to see how they view the world around them, a chance to share ideas and make friends that last a lifetime.
The Christopher Columbus Academy is a one-of-a-kind chance for students and coaches to work alongside scientists, engineers and technical experts while exploring science and technology. Through this specially designed program, the finalist teams learn about science and technology and the important role they play in everyday life, while providing a strong foundation for future science achievement.
